2005

I hear we all make lots of resolutions and that few of them are kept. So, I think I'll publically chronicle mine in my blog. That will give me an incentive and some form of accountability that might help me keep my resolutions this year. "Can you possibly get any more boring, Mary?" : )

I will be losing forty pounds, but more importantly, I plan on keeping the weight off, so it will take more than a year to follow up on this resolution.

I am going to get more organized. I am setting up a new system today that I learned about in David Allen's book, "Getting Things Done." Although I am generally pretty organized, his (Allen's ) ideas about getting things out of your head and onto paper to allow your mind more freedom to create ('Mind Like Water'), seems like a very good idea.

I'll be graduating from college in August, so I had to make serious career choices and decide on a direction for my Master's degree.

I will be paying off and down my credit. Someone told me a long time ago that, "only rich people can afford credit." That's so true and I will stop paying money to companies, not for products but for the ability to have things before I can afford them. Besides, I don't even have half of the things that were bought on credit, all I have is the debt, the monthly payments, the interest and sometimes the late payments. The additional effort at organization will see that there will be no more late charges.

Finally, I will do a good deed once a month. Something that no one knows I've done except me. If the details become known, it doesn't count and I have to do another good deed that month.

Wish me luck!

How are your resolutions doing now? A week after your last update?
Good for you for following up so much! Hang in there.

So far, all resolutions are still in play. I'm not losing weight like I thought I would but I'm off the sugar and eating enough veggies to qualify for rabbit status. I feel good about myself and that's the one resolution that I didn't even make that means the most to me.
